ANGELA SMALL Counsellor & Supervisor, MA, PG.Dip, MBACP (Accred)
I am an accredited Psychotherapist, Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor and EMDR practitioner delivering therapy over twenty years.
My primary orientation is Gestalt, although I now see myself as an Integrative Psychotherapist, having additionally trained in EMDR, (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing ) Psychohairapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and other humanistic approaches.
Over the years I have provided therapy for/in the MOJ (Ministry of Justice) in addition to Primary Schools, MIND, EAP providers, The Priory, NHS and other wellbeing charities
For the past fifteen years I have been running my private practice; initially face to face and now on line.
I abide by the BACP code of conduct and ethical requirements for professional practice.
AREAS OF SPECIALISM
Abuse, addictions, anger management, anxiety, bereavement, couple counselling, CSA (Child Sexual Abuse) depression, cohesive control, domestic violence, forensic settings, HIV related issues, homelessness, identity conflict, natural hair discrimination, relationship breakdowns, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), self harm, suicide, trauma, work related stress and violence against women & girls
MY PASSION
I am deeply committed to supporting clients from the Global Majority with therapy that honours culture, identity and lived experience. Many of us carry the weight of racism, migration stories, family expectations, faith, colourism, and the pressure to stay strong in environments that don’t always understand us.
In our sessions, you don’t have to translate yourself or shrink parts of who you are. I offer an online space where your heritage, language, and identity are seen, respected and centred. My approach is intersectional, trauma‑informed and grounded in compassion, a place where you can exhale, be witnessed, and reconnect with your voice.
In addition I lead reflective practice sessions for staff that critically examine racial inequality and the challenges of intersectionality.
SUPPORITNG NEURODIVERGENT CLIENTS
As a neurodivergent therapist, I bring lived experience and clinical understanding to my work with autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, dyslexic and otherwise neurodivergent clients. My practice is fully online, and I shape sessions around what supports your nervous system and communication style.
This might include visual tools, shared screens, structured sessions, slower pacing, or space to process in your own way. I understand masking, burnout, overwhelm and the exhaustion of navigating a world not built for your brain.
You don’t need to perform or pretend here. You get a space that is flexible, affirming and deeply respectful of your sensory needs, processing style and identity — all delivered in a way that works for you online.
ONE TO ONE SESSIONS & CLINICAL SUPERVISION
I deliver counselling, EMDR and psychotherapy to couples and individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period; with the aim of enabling people to elevate and embrace their true self. I also provide clinical supervision, to counsellors, psychotherapists, trainee counsellors, charities and Mental Health services.
